Beware of AI beauty images

I often ask my clients to send me their ideas for make-up before their booking with me. Over the years I have regularly had to flag up images that show make-up models who have had cosmetic procedures, been heavily edited, shot in studio lighting etc. which leads to often un-realistic expectations of what can be achieved with make-up alone.

This year (2025) I have been shocked at the level of AI generated beauty images being presented to me by clients. Some are very convincing but the red flag is usually how soft and smooth the skin looks. Very few people have skin which shows no pores, lines, fine hair, freckles, bumps, scarring. It is inevitable for make-up to move on the skin throughout the day, smudging can happen, make-up will settle into fine lines, lipstick will wear off. All of this is to be expected. ( although not if you believe what you see in beauty imagery online!)

The extreme, unrealistic beauty standards we are all subjected to is a real cause for concern, what we see in print and online day in- day out is certainly warping our sense of reality and making many women and girls overly critical of their appearance.

If you book in with me, I will be honest about what is real and what is a created image, I will be honest about the best way to enhance your natural beauty. I will be honest about what can be achieved with make-up. I will help you to see your beauty, because you are beautiful.
